Law firm Wright, Johnson & Mackenzie (WJM) has expanded its presence in the North of Scotland with the acquisition of Robertson & Co of Kingussie.
Solicitor and estate agent Robertson & Co is to close at the end of September 2017 following the retirement of the firm’s only partner Keith Robertson. WJM is to provide continuity of service to Robertson & Co’s clients as well as the storage and retention of wills and titles held by the former firm.
The relationship between the two firms has existed for several decades: Mr Robertson joined WJM in the 1970s, ten years after the firm had been established by Peter Wright who had moved to Kingussie in 1963, and was previously a partner with WJM in Glasgow.
Partners in WJM’s Highland office in Inverness, Ian Donaldson and Angus MacLeod, will be jointly responsible for looking after the needs of former Robertson & Co clients. Meanwhile, Alison Skinner and Amy McDougall are to join the firm's Inverness office.
Ms Skinner joins WJM from R&R Urquhart and has been appointed to the role of private client associate, specialising in wills, trusts, executries, powers of attorney and guardianships. Ms McDougall joins as a trainee solicitor.
Mr Donaldson said of the acquisition: “Robertson & Co clients can be assured they will continue to benefit from the same range of services that have been provided to them in the past. They will be able to access a full range of new services too.
“WJM are committed to maintaining the same high standards of professionalism and integrity that they have been used to receiving from Keith for many years.”
